ABOUT THIS PROJECT
On my 8th birthday in 1987 I received a second hand Commodore 64 and the first game I ever loaded up on it via Datasette was, "Ninja".
Having a big love for Ninjas(sic) back in the day, I was captivated by this simple yet charming game. Playing it on and off over the years I imagined an array of improvements and things I would like to have seen in the game, and over time my desire to make a real computer game (any game) intensified.
Alas, I lived in a small town with little access to knowledge and resources and did not even learn of the existence of machine code until quite some years later. I was never able to achieve my goal at that time, and while there was one occasion about 20 years ago where I attempted to get started, I met difficulty there, and other priorities once more put this dream on hold.
In 2022, I found the inspiration to start once more and get this "thing" done. I brought the project to near completion that same year, but circumstances, events and a certain amount of procrastination had the project on hold for four more years until now, in 2026, when I was finally able to complete my childhood dream: to make a "proper" computer game, and contribute to the Commodore 64 scene.
Fans of the original may appreciate the attention to detail in attempting to recreate the feel of the original while adding some tweaks here and there.
Ever wonder what Princess Didi looked like?
